    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    This entry-level role will assist with implementing marketing strategies to increase engagement, recognition, program impact, and philanthropy for Soroptimist. This position combines administrative and creative duties supporting a dynamic Marketing & Communications team. The MarComm team oversees outreach, global brand management, content development, web and graphic design, and editorial standards across a global organization in six languages.

    The ideal candidate is a self-starter, collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new skills. This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to many facets of marketing and to be part of a nonprofit with a powerful mission.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with drafting, editing, formatting, and publishing content for email blasts, blogs, social media, and other communication channels.  
    • Assist with updating communications calendars, entering and tracking information in project management tools, handling interdepartmental communications, and other admin tasks.
    • Assist with designing branded creative including graphics, social content, slide deck templates, and more.  
    • Assist with preparing marketing and publicity resources for Soroptimist clubs and members.
    • Assist with compiling marketing metrics, organizing reports, and creating presentations.
    • Assist with managing our content translation pipeline by preparing and sending documents and tracking invoices.
    • Learn and implement new marketing tools and trends.
    • Assist with other department activities as needed.
    • Participate in weekly team meetings and project discussions.

    EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

    Required

    • 1 year of professional experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
    • Commitment to our mission to empower women and girls through educational opportunities.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and high editorial standards. 
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with digital marketing. Preference is given to candidates who have experience with email marketing (Mailchimp or similar), website (Squarespace or similar), and social media management (Hootsuite or similar).
    • Top-notch graphic design sensibility, and comfortable using tools like Canva. Preference will be given to candidates with Adobe Suite experience, especially in InDesign.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Professional demeanor when communicating with a variety of stakeholders including volunteers, donors, potential partners, and women seeking help.
    • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively.
    • Can-do attitude, ready to learn and problem-solve.
    • Integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, and humor are essential in a small nonprofit, along with the creativity to explore new thinking.

    Preferred

    • Experience working in associations or nonprofits.
    • HTML knowledge.
    • Experience with digital marketing tools.
    • Experience using project management tools such as Asana.
    • Experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud.
    • Multicultural exposure or experience.
    • Fluency in one of SIA’s federation languages: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese.

    NOTE: This position is remote, however, bi-annual in-person staff meetings are held at Soroptimist's headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. Employees may be based anywhere but must be eligible to work in the U.S. and must be able to work within SIA's official business hours window of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time. The Marketing & Engagement Specialist should be able to attend weekly team meetings that start at 10:00 am Eastern Time.
