Reporting Structure: Reports to The Board of Directors (BOD), Family Promise of Lawrence
Job Role: The role of the Executive Director (ED) is to carry out the mission of Family Promise of Lawrence (FPL). In this role, the ED is the key strategic planner and mission strategist for the organization. To fulfill this role, the ED will serve the roles of the administrator, financial, management and visionary leader of FPL. The ED role will oversee all aspects of FPL, including programs, guest / client/ potential client case management, programs, organizational policies, strategies, models of service, procedures and processes, volunteer involvement and engagement, development, fundraising and events, financial accountability, annual budget adherence, and marketing for the agency. The ED serves also as the primary spokesperson for FPL, and driver towards partnerships and collaborative efforts for community involvement.
Job Responsibilities:
All ED work, decisions, strategic leadership, tasks and actions will be made with the following organizational strategic movements in mind:

Specific responsibilities will be varied and will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Empowering Families:
Working closely with the BOD to successfully fulfill the mission of FPL
Oversight of development, management, and expansion of programs as client centered needs present to empower families enrolled in programs
Achieving Stabilization:
Oversight of all aspects of operations, finances, development, strategic planning, programs, staff, case management, organizational roles and functions, program growth and expansion, volunteer and donor development for the stabilization and impact of FPL in our local community. Each area must be managed, and activities conducted in a manner consistent with the requirements of contractual agreements, laws, regulations, grant funding documents, and the BOD policies and procedures for FPL.
Management and evaluation of all FPL documents, including process flows for programs, administration and development, policies and procedures, templates, database, donor and volunteer communications, forms, annual budget, financial reporting, tracking, annual reports, employee job descriptions, annual performance evaluations, employee PTO, KPIs, webpage, blog, annual impact reporting and FPL document library.
Oversight of all management and personnel supervision to successfully fulfill the mission of FPL
Management of all financial processes, within the boundaries of the BOD approved annual budget, including income and expenses, monthly budget evaluation, KPI adherence and adoption of change orders and proposals to the budget as needed
Oversight of all development activities, including events, donor development, grants, foundations, campaigns, and program support
Preparation of reports, evaluation of trends and outcomes, communication, and facilitation with the Board of Directors to keep moving towards our vision so that every family receives support, compassion, and a chance to create a better future
Community Connections:
Collaboration with other agencies in our local community to enhance programs provided by FPL and to advocate for clients served
Participate in collaborations that will directly aid in the successful completion of the mission and vision of FPL. Collaborations will occur with local government, congregations of faith, human service agencies, businesses, and other organizations.
Participation with the National Family Promise office per the annual Affiliate Agreements. Participation will include participation in national committees, webinars, trainings, pilot programs, donor, and BOD visits.
Leadership and convening of meetings, presentations as well as informal visits with local partners, agencies, civic groups, government boards and collaborations. Participation in activities such as community needs assessments, collaborative problem solving, enhanced educational opportunities, furthering collaboration efforts, encouragement and helping to equip all collaborative partners to serve in a client and system centric informed perspective.
Qualifications:
The ED must be a highly organized individual with exceptional management, people, time management, communication, collaboration, relationship, and organization skills.
The ED must be able to work in a changing environment, with a strategic focus towards building collaborative partnerships with employees, donors, partners, volunteers, businesses, and government agencies.
Senior supervisory management and facilitation of professional development of staff is essential.
Clear, flexible, and frequent communication skills required.
Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and varying perspectives is necessary.
Trauma Informed Care training is essential.
Education and Skills:
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school
Senior management experience (non-profit or business) with direct supervision and management experience required. Outcomes- based evaluation experience helpful.
Experience in budget development, tracking and monthly reporting, financial management and accountability required
Experience in collaboration and coordination of all organizational functions, including staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, government agencies, and congregations of faith.
Prior experience with trauma informed, person centered, strength-based approaches is critical.
Enthusiasm for work in social justice and awareness of addiction behaviors, mental health issues and other challenges surrounding populations of people experiencing poverty or homelessness is critical
Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people from different cultures, faiths and backgrounds is required
Existing familiarity with Lawrence and Douglas County resources desirable
Multi-tasking and time management abilities critical with the capacity to adapt quickly to change course and think creatively as situations arise
Ability to handle detailed information with a high degree of accuracy and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
High professional demeanor, honesty, integrity, and respect
Emotional and Physical Demands: Work with families in a housing crisis requires mental and emotional fortitude, adequate self-care, and awareness of surroundings. Leadership in this role involves motivating and managing staff as well as volunteers in the successful fulfillment of the mission through awareness, sensitivity, compassion and understanding.
Working hours: Full Time and will include evenings as well as some weekend engagements.
