    Description

    Organization Overview:

    Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a 501(c)3 and serves approximately 4,000 girls each year. Our office environment is mission-driven, congenial, and flexible with a casual dress code.

    Position Summary:

    The Program Coordinator position is a full-time position in-person in Rockville, MD. The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director and, as part of the program team, is responsible for assisting with site set-up and coordination, training of coaches, registration of participants, management of teams in Montgomery County schools and alternative sites. Communication with coaches, parents and school personnel will be required. Some of the key responsibilities falling within these areas include:

    Program Development

    In coordination with the Program Director:

    • Identify and work to expand program at existing sites with high demand
    • Create and implement a plan to recruit new volunteers from a wide range of groups and locations, including but not limited to outreach to corporations, community associations, schools, families, and online sources
    • Attend recruitment events to share information about Girls on the Run of Montgomery County
    • Follow up and place potential volunteers as needed
    • Contribute to development of necessary policies and procedures to guide teams
    • Identify and work to expand program at existing sites with high demand

    Program Management

    • Develop and maintain relationships with coaches, donors, parents, participants, sponsors and volunteers
    • Maintain strong relationships with and manage teams at new and existing program locations
    • Support ongoing, effective communication with coaches and site contacts and support them as needed throughout the program season
    • Coordinate coach and site data collection and maintain the program database in conjunction with senior program staff
    • Conduct program registration twice a year (spring and fall) ) by utilizing registration software, overseeing team sign-ups, and managing waiting lists
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of coach training; organize coach meetings/coach pick-ups
    • Support planning and execution of coach training for over 200+ new coaches per season

    Program Administration

    • Distribution of written resources and social media for coaches and families
    • Provide customer support to stakeholders throughout the registration process and season
    • Field phone calls and emails regarding sites, coaches and general program inquiries
    • Oversee inventory and materials ordering for the coaches each season and coordinate the distribution of coach bags
    • Attend regular staff meetings with program team and executive team and maintain open communication to work collaboratively
    • Inventory and order materials for the coaches each season and coordinate the distribution of coach bags
    • Assist Race Director with the preparation and execution of two races per year

    Level of Language Proficiency

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • Spanish language fluency preferred
    • Personal passion for the mission of GOTR and be a role model for health and self-esteem
    • Ability to present GOTR program offerings and possess a depth of knowledge, or a willingness to learn about GOTR program and philosophy
    • Strong public speaking skills and written communication skills
    • Resilience to handle a dynamic work environment while maintaining quality outcomes
    • Outstanding relationship building skills; ability to respond quickly and professionally to parents, community leaders, volunteer coaches and sites to generate win-win solutions
    • An outgoing personality, self-motivation and the ability to work independently and leading groups of volunteers
    • Ability to travel within Montgomery County using a personal vehicle
    • Computer competence including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google suite, and data management software
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize, make efficient decisions, and flexibility to handle the ebb and flow of GOTR's seasonal programs.
    • Availability to work a limited number of nights and weekends for GOTR events and community events, such as coach trainings, volunteer fairs and semi-annual 5Ks
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • Spanish language fluency preferred
