    Deputy Chief of Organizational Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

    Executive Bureau

    The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) seeks a highly motivated leader to work closely with the Chief of Organizational Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) to provide critical guidance and leadership on matters related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and racial justice. 

    The Deputy Chief will (1) Provide senior-level leadership and innovative ideas that address systemic challenges related to gaps in cultural competency and empathetic allyship; (2) Develop and implement strategies based on DEI analytics to combat implicit bias and increase cross-cultural communications and engagement; (3) Program manage internal projects that support organizational enhancements.

    Primary Duties:  Duties of the Deputy Chief of Organizational Diversity, Equity, &Inclusion include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Leverage internal relationships and external partnerships to advance best practices through a DEI lens that supports inclusion, allyship, retention, diversity talent pipeline building, and cultural competency in a legal workplace and in the communities we serve.
    • Align DEI initiatives and outcomes with the vision of the Attorney General’s Office through strategic planning, careful execution, and communications about the DEI team’s work.
    • Develop and lead DEI-related programming (e.g., Mentorship, Sponsorship, ERGs).
    • Develop and implement comprehensive DEI strategies and action plans for various bureaus that align with our agency’s values and goals.
    • Develop and launch DEI training across various audiences.
    • Collaborate with HR, leadership, and various internal teams to integrate DEI principles into recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and career development processes.
    • Conceptualize and help launch and manage special projects and work assignments of the Chief of ODEI.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and legal requirements related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, incorporating them into the AGO’s policies and practices.

     

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 8-plus years of experience developing and managing diversity programs preferred, including equity, inclusion and racial justice.
    • Program management experience required.
    • Senior-level leadership skills and prior management experience required.
    • Data-analysis, strategy development, and strategic planning required.
    • Experience in creating broad outreach strategies for building inclusive talent pipelines required.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated organization skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent cultural humility skills and training.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate advice and support, effectively and productively, for a broad base of attorneys and staff to develop solutions and manage change.
    • Demonstrated ability to build both formal and informal professional networks (e.g., ERGs).
    • Self-starter with effective decision-making skills and proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • A valid driver’s license, as travel across the state is required.
    • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve, and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.

    Position Type:  Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.

    Salary: $105,930 to $113,420
