    Description

    The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Payroll Accountant II in the Finance and Administration Division. IFPRI is a research institute of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) This exempt position is considered a 2-year, renewable appointment and is located at IFPRI’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Lead full cycle in-house semi-monthly payroll in Deltek Costpoint for 300+ domestic/international based staff
    • Coordinate processing and payment of international staff payroll as required
    • Partner with HR team to adequately and accurately reflect employee changes that impacts payroll
    • Process timesheet corrections and ensure timesheets are recorded timely in Costpoint
    • Coordinate with Human Resources to process new hires, termed employees and staff salary changes
    • Ensure compliance with Federal and State tax laws.
    • Process and reconcile quarterly federal and state taxes.
    • Timely respond to various tax notifications and registration request; as well as resolve disputes and discrepancies
    • Prepare annual Form W-2s and outposted staff annual earnings statements.  Ensure timely filing and reporting.
    • Audit payroll leave balances and process necessary adjustments in Costpoint
    • Provide access to employee’s timesheet system and access to assigned project codes
    • Primary point of contact to provide assistance to employees with regards to Costpoint timesheet entry
    • Ensure employee and employer retirement deductions and benefits are submitted for payment timely
    • Reconcile retirement accounts with administrator documents and confirmations
    • Process FSA deduction and benefits payments
    • Provide support for payroll audits, retirement plan audits, as well as annual financial statement audit requests as required
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of lead payroll experience, or master’s degree plus 5 years of lead payroll experience
    • Excellent oral and written English language skills
    • Proficient knowledge and experience processing payroll and related tax filings and remittances
    • Demonstrated proficiency using Deltek Costpoint Time & Expense, People, and Payroll modules; Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrated ability to be resourceful; high level of organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through to closure.
    • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced work environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work productively within a multi-cultural team environment
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work responsibly with minimal supervision
    • Demonstrated experience handling confidential matters

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated financial experience in monitoring budgets and expenditures

    Physical Demand & Work environment:

    • Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time.
    • Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds.
    • Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading.  

    Salary Range: The expected salary range for this job requisition is between $74,000 - $90,700. In determining your salary, we will consider your experience and other job-related factors.
