    Position Summary 

    Reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), the Associate Director provides strategic and tactical support for the advancement of PRI’s information technology infrastructure, including, but not limited to, systems management, program and project management, network support, data and application security monitoring and response, primary business system support and integrations. The Associate Director will provide direct supervision of IT team members, ensuring staff have the support and resources needed to achieve organizational objectives. The position leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed.   

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with IT leadership to identify long-term IT needs; develop strategies for supporting systems and acquiring software and hardware necessary to meet those needs 
    • Continually identify and research new IT developments and technologies 
    • Provide daily oversight of IT team members, coordinate and manage team workload, assignments, and tools and resources  
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to direct reports, ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment  
    • Monitor and manage the PRI information systems and network infrastructure to support the company’s computing, data processing, and communications needs  
    • Ensure the responsiveness of technical, systems, and program support, and serve as a point of contact for end users in determining IT requirements and solutions 
    • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, such as Operations, Finance, HR, or Programming to integrate business-level systems and data 
    • Collaborate with IT leadership to identify and mitigate IT risks 
    • Ensure compliance with all required regulatory statutes related to IT systems operations; develop and monitor IT-related policies and procedures 
    • Develop and deliver IT-related training for staff to support appropriate internal controls and security-related procedures, coordinate training workshops for staff members surrounding new technology or organizational technology policies and procedures 
    • Provide project planning and project management resources for the department 
    • Prepare, review, and maintain documentation for IT policies and procedures 
    • Manage backup and restore of files in cloud-based systems 
    • Provides advanced system and user support for complex issues as needed 
    • Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist and support in the attainment of our mission, All Rural Students Succeed 

    Position Location & Schedule 

    The position will be considered for remote work.

    Minimum Qualifications 

    Education required to ensure success in this position: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field 
    • Advanced degree or industry certification such as MSCA, MSCE CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ strongly preferred 

    Experience required to ensure success in this position: 

    • 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in technology-related role 
    • Experience in training, mentoring, or managing employees and other technology users 
    • Experience leading technology-related projects, initiatives, or programs 
    • Experience with hardware, software, and network maintenance/support 

    Special skills, knowledge and abilities: 

    • Demonstrated leadership ability 
    • Ability to multi-task, mange projects, and meet deadlines 
    • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization

    • Strong personal commitment to working within and supporting rural communities  
    • Demonstrated success in a complex, fast-paced, high-performing organization, with the ability to prioritize projects and work cross-functionally 

    License, certification, or registration necessary: 

    • Valid driver’s license 
    • Successfully complete pre-employment background check 

    Physical requirements: 

    • Ability to work in a high energy office 
    • Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with employees of PRI, external stakeholders, consultants, and others 
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs 
    • Periodic instances of prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements using a computer and mouse 
    • Ability to travel independently by car and plane regionally and nationally 
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment 
    • Ability to operate motor vehicle 

    Environmental conditions: 

    • Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities 
    • Occasional work in hot, dusty, or cramped environments
