    About the Director of Operations Role: 

    BRIC seeks an experienced Director of Operations who, as a member of our senior leadership team, will oversee, lead and strategize around the overall functions of BRIC’s day-to-day facilities operations and venue management. Responsibilities include building/facilities management, rental events and BRIC produced venue management, and visitor services. The Director of Operations will liaise with other departments including but not limited to: Production, Technology and various Programming departments. 

    What You’ll Do in the Role:

    The Director of Operations will lead, plan and manage the operations department by setting a strategic vision and overseeing the operations budget. This is a highly collaborative role that will oversee multiple teams. The Director of Operations will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, Chief Operating Officer: 

    Building Management

    • Oversee security, custodial, and operations teams, ensuring schedules and compliance are in place.
    • Work in collaboration with teams leading offsite work to apply operational policies and procedures as appropriate.
    • Supervise external facilities management company with internal custodial staff to ensure building projects at BRIC House and 75 Rockwell are identified and up to date. When needed, identify vendors for building projects.
    • Lead and strategize the planning for long term use and space needs at BRIC house and 75 Rockwell.
    • Facilitate building coordination and policies with partner organization (UrbanGlass).
    • Oversee capital projects at BRIC House and reporting as needed.

    Venue Management

    • Work with the Senior and Executive Team to manage space use and collaborate across departments for BRIC-wide event planning.
    • Oversee BRIC rentals program including marketing to meet revenue goals.
    • Prepare contracts and budgets, manage customer service, coordinate with the production team on rental events.
    • Oversee space calendars for BRIC House; participate in organization-wide program planning to avoid conflicts and ensure coordination across programs.

    Visitor Services

    • Strategize and implement a cohesive visitor services approach, that aligns with BRIC’s values, to BRIC House public spaces, including but not limited to the BRIC House Lobby, Stoop and Gallery spaces.
    • Lead, staff, and oversee box office activity during BRIC House events.
    • Work with the Operations Manager to ensure appropriate work schedules for front of house and security staff during all events.
    • Support logistics of staff events and board meetings.
    • Research and implement accessibility initiatives as they intersect with space use and visitor services.

    • Experience:
      • 7-10 years experience working in operations/operations management, building facilities at an arts or theater organization 
      • Managed multiple staff and has a strong history of collaborating with multiple teams
      • Excellent communication and follow through skills
      • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
    • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization
    • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the operations 

    Other Things to Know:

    • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $90k-$110K.
    • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
