    The organized, detailed, compassionate, and highly motivated person in this full time position will work closely with the Manager of Prevention Services, and other staff members, to provide emergency assessment screening, case management, and financial assistance to callers who are either experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness.  

    Key responsibilities for this role:

    • Provide case management to include intake assessment & required documentation, create housing stability plan, budget and credit review,  maintain client files, follow-up case management.
    • Connect participants with community resources, including financial assistance, housing assistance, family wellness, education, and legal services
    • Assist program participants to locate, secure, and/or retain suitable housing; Includes housing inspections
    • Maintain a Landlord/Housing database and work with landlords to identify housing options
    • Coordinate and assist clients with moving 
    • Collaborate with other team members to provide services including housing counseling and financial coaching, utilizing Family Promise curricula
    • Work with program participants to ensure housing stability and successful diversion
    • Data entry to NJ HMFA HMIS AWARDS system; Attend ongoing HMIS trainings
    • Participate in County and State meetings pertaining to homelessness
    • Work will be primarily in the office and sometimes remote; Also, work will be in the field/community

    The ideal candidate will have: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, education, communication, social work, real estate, or related field and/or 5 years related work experience.
    • Experience with providing services to low-income or housing insecure population. The candidate must be able to develop a strong working relationship with clients, be able to relate to individuals making significant life decisions and be supportive of individual choice and increasing independence.
    • Ability to provide effective training, prepare written reports, understand budgeting and credit, maintain clear and comprehensive client case documentation.
    • Experience with conflict resolution, de-escalation, and mediation skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Current NJ Driver's License.
    • Ability to adhere to high ethical standards, which includes showing respect and dignity to all participants, staff, volunteers, and community members, always behaving in a professional manner, will not allow words or actions to reflect bias/prejudice/discrimination regarding a person’s race, culture, creed, gender, or sexual orientation. Will keep confidential all information shared by participants

    Bilingual/Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.
