POSITION OVERVIEW
The Executive Director (ED) of Spark Central is the chief executive of the organization, responsible for the general and fiscal leadership, as well as the management of the entire organization. This includes overseeing programs, partnerships, fundraising, budgets, and internal/external relations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff and volunteers, programs, growth, and the execution of Spark Central’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management
• Provide visionary leadership and direction to the organization.
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring alignment with Spark Central’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
• Lead, motivate, and develop staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.
• Ensure the organization’s compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Strategic Planning
• Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan.
• Regularly review and update the strategic plan to address changing needs and priorities.
• Set annual goals and objectives aligned with the strategic plan.
Fundraising and Development
• In coordination with the Director of Development, develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support Spark Central’s financial sustainability.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and grantors.
• Oversee grant writing and reporting processes.
Financial Management
• Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer.
• Monitor financial performance and ensure sound fiscal management.
• Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Community Engagement and Public Relations
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing Spark Central to the public, media, and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, agencies, and other nonprofits.
• Promote the organization’s programs and services through public speaking, media outreach, and community events.
Board Governance
• Support the Board of Directors in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
• Prepare for and attend all Board meetings.
• Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance and key issues.
• Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new Board members.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• Strong relational skills to build value and inspire confidence in volunteers, youth, community members, and staff of all races, sexual identities, and backgrounds.
• Strong organizational & leadership skills with a willingness to delegate.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Effective supervision skills to support the development of staff & volunteers.
• Proficiency in preparing & presenting clear & comprehensive written reports.
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Senior leadership experience.
• Proven track record of successfully leading teams to achieve organizational goals.
• Experience working with a Board of Directors.
• Access to reliable transportation; personal vehicle strongly encouraged.
• Ability to work Saturdays & evenings for special events or meetings.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching, engaging, and inspiring groups of people in fun-filled educational environments; teaching experience and/or curriculum development a strong plus.

Kaiser Permanente PPO medical plan with Delta Dental with 70% of the employee premium paid by Spark Central. Includes three weeks of vacation and one hour of sick & safe leave for every 30 hours worked. Up to 40 hours of sick leave may be accrued and rolled over to the following year.
