Title: Development and Communications Manager
Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000
Experience required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5 -7 years of development and communications experience.
- Proven experience managing fundraising portfolios and meeting targets.
- Experience writing successful grant applications and managing institutional giving portfolio and deadlines.
- Experience of research, prospecting, lead generation and conversion.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work well independently as a self-starter, with a high level of professionalism and good interpersonal skills to also work in collaboration with other staff, volunteers, and external partners from a variety of different backgrounds.
- Ability to handle sensitive information about donors and team members with discretion and good judgment.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Familiarity/experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (training available).
- Working knowledge of Canva or comparable program preferred.
- Familiarity with Hootsuite preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Creative, curious, fast learner, with special appreciation for human services and nonprofits including commitment to Bottomless Closet’s mission.
Key responsibilities
Work collaboratively with organizational leadership, professional staff, and volunteers to support
fundraising and communications goals as well as organizational growth in the following areas:
Fundraising
- Identify and evaluate corporate and foundation prospects and opportunities.
- Manage the grant submission process, including collection and synthesis of data, completion of proposals, tracking, reporting, and corresponding with foundation and corporate donors.
- Collaborate with Development Director on all grants and serve as the primary writer on all grant proposals and reports to foundations.
- Collaborate with Director of Development and Executive Director to attend and participate in funder cultivation meetings.
- Other fundraising duties as needed
Communications
- Collaborate with Director of Development to project manage and produce content for the following campaigns: Annual Spring Luncheon, Operation Hope and Year End campaign.
- Schedule and post relevant content across all Bottomless Closet social media channels to support key campaigns, organizational goals, and other outreach.
- Assist in developing and implementing innovative email campaigns and other donor communications in partnership with the Development Director.
- Coordinate all new content requirements such as photography, video etc.
- Coordinate all third-party vendors related to content provision – e.g., web designer, communications consultant, etc.
Program
- Work closely with program team to identify and capture client stories and testimonials to support development outreach and communications campaigns.
- Collaboration with Program Director to produce and enhance client communications across all channels – brochures, email, web, etc.
- Coordinate branding and support at program events in coordination with program team.
- Gather client stories for communications efforts.
- Help drive and manage organization-wide efforts to build community among volunteers.
Supervision
The Development and Communications Manager reports directly to the Development Director.
Schedule
The Development and Communications Manager position is Full Time with a schedule that includes
a mix of remote and onsite work; ability to work flexible hours, including periodic evenings and a rare weekend are required; specific hours will be determined based on organizational needs.
