    Description

    Part-Time Program Coordinator

    Hours: 24 hours per week (may evolve into a full-time position)

    Low literacy and low health literacy are ever-growing concerns, and we all must do what it takes to solve this problem. At Literacy Volunteers-Prince William we are doing our part. Every year, we provide hundreds of individuals with dignity, equity, and inspiration through the gift of literacy and health literacy.

    We invite you to join our mission in this part-time role as Program Coordinator. This position has the potential to becoming full-time.

    Position Overview:

    This opportunity will see you involved with a range of activities like:

    • Serving as a tutor in adult conversation classes as needed (lesson preparation, maintaining attendance records, conducting in-class surveys on occasion, initiating students’ progress evaluations, etc.)
    • Collaborating and communicating with parent liaisons in PWC public schools
    • General office duties such as answering phones, taking messages, and responding to emails
    • Program scheduling for students and tutors
    • Preparing and distributing various communication to students, volunteer tutors, and other stakeholders involved with the organization
    • Data input, management and reporting
    • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
    • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office
    • Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum high school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Previous experience teaching ESL or working in adult education programs is desirable.
    • Proven experience as an administrative assistant or office admin assistant
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with adult learners and stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed, to accommodate program schedules and events.
    • Strong English language skills are required. Proficiency in speaking and writing Spanish is highly preferred.
