Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for an Executive Director at NAMI Sno-Isle. The Executive Director will give direction and provide leadership to ensure the achievement of NAMI Sno-Isle’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. They will oversee the organization's operations, programs, and strategic direction. This role involves working remotely and at various regional locations, with flexible work hours to accommodate programming.
Leadership and Communications
- Works with staff, the board, volunteers, and members to establish a strategic direction for the organization.
- Embraces, promotes, and creates excitement for the NAMI mission, vision, and values at the local level.
- Forecasts emerging issues and works with staff, the board, volunteers, and members to develop appropriate organizational action and programs.
- Gathers input and makes decisions in a timely manner.
- Fosters and maintains relationships with the NAMI state organization and relevant advocacy organizations, community organizations, local government, educational organizations, and other partners of NAMI Sno-Isle.
- Builds and supports coalitions, as appropriate, with local organizations to fulfill NAMI Sno-Isle's mission and goals.
Human Resources
- Supports, guides, and develops the leadership of staff and volunteers.
- Works with the board and staff to ensure effective development and implementation of personnel policies and benefits to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
Program Development
- Guides to and empowers program teams to develop, implement, and evaluate programmatic visions, objectives, and work plans.
- Promotes innovation and creativity in programming.
- Oversees programs’ 100% compliance with NAMI National rules, guidelines, and requirements.
- Strengthens programming through improved communication and idea and resource sharing with the NAMI state organization and other affiliates in the state.
- Ensures programs’ data management and dashboard reporting.
Fundraising
- Creates and implements a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the organization.
- Helps expand the organization's philanthropic support by identifying and cultivating individual, foundational, corporate, and public revenue sources.
- Plays a meaningful role in all aspects of donor relations.
- Participates in the planning, implementing, and evaluating NAMI Sno-Isle’s annual giving program.
- Ensures the future viability of the organization’s planned giving activities.
Board Development
- Enables the board to fulfill its governance functions.
- Builds productive relationships with the board.
- Reports directly to the board of directors on all aspects of the organization.
- Ensures that regular program reports and periodic program evaluations are provided to the board.
- Assists in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new board members.
- Works with the board (in coordination with other staff) to develop strategic plans, policies, and priorities regarding programmatic direction and external relations.
- Implements the strategic goals and objectives of the organization with the board.
Financial Management
- Recommends yearly budget for board approval and manages organization’s resources within budgetary guidelines.
- Responsible for managing and meeting all legal and financial obligations, forms, and annual reports.
- Handles the actual contracting with auditors and filings of state reports, registrations, and tax returns before their due dates.
- Collaborates with the board and senior staff to correctly complete Form 990 before its due date for filing.
- Understands and develops internal financial management systems, controls, policies, and practices to protect the organization’s assets.

- Knowledge of Mental Health Services and Advocacy
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
- Must live in or near Snohomish or Island Counties in Washington and can commute to locations within our service area.
