    Description

    The Opportunity: We are seeking a Payroll and Finance Specialist for our client, the Faison Center. Over its 25-year history, the Faison Center has continuously evolved to meet the changing and growing needs of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. The result is a broad array of programs serving individuals from as early as 18 months through adulthood.

    Summary

    The Payroll and Finance Specialist is responsible for processing and overseeing the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position is responsible for cash receipts, general accounting, accounts receivable, and other complex accounting assignments. Reconciles general ledger accounts and timely resolves outstanding items, including preparing accounting statements and reports as needed. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and supports the HR and Finance teams. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, 40 hours per week, exempt position (FTE 1).

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Compiles payroll data; contacts department managers/supervisors for any missed time entries and processes biweekly transfer of payroll data to the Paylocity HRIS and payroll system. Ensures all expenses and incentive pay information is entered in a timely manner.
    • Resolves discrepancies with employees, managers, Paylocity, and the accounting department.
    • Maintains and resolves issues to ensure the accuracy of the information in the Paylocity payroll system as it relates to employees, hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other
    • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, retirement, garnishments/tax liens, and other deductions.
    • Coordinates with the Benefits Manager to ensure that FMLA, personal, and ADA-related leaves are accurately recorded in payroll.
    • Collaborates with the Benefits Manager to ensure that changes to Open Enrollment deductions are properly applied.
    • Ensures time off types and settings are adjusted and correct when an employee's status has changed.
    • Works with Paylocity to ensure the issuance of W-2s are posted timely, including resolving any payroll tax concerns within Paylocity.
    • Works closely with the Controller to compile data and information to support the preparation of the balance sheet, P&L, and overall financial reports.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts ensuring proper entries are performed to facilitate balanced accounts by following general accounting principles.
    • Post cash receipts and reconcile them for month-end.
    • Posts journal entries to the general ledger.
    • Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
    • Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned and relevant to business needs.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
    • Three to five years of related experience.
    • Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
    • Experience with Paylocity preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a
