WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
As a part of the Events team, the Manager, Event Sales cultivates and manages the sales and operations of special events at the GRAMMY Museum. Leveraging your expertise in sales, negotiation, and client relationship management, you will secure and manage events that align with the Museum's mission and goals. Using a dynamic, results-oriented approach, you will drive event revenue growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Engage directly with clients to handle all aspects of the booking process, including sales pitches, site visits, proposals, contract negotiations, insurance, and billing.
- Ensure all event contracts comply with legal requirements, Museum policies, and industry standards. Work closely with the CFO and legal team to address any contract-related issues.
- Coordinate planning, communication, logistics, staffing, and day-of operations in collaboration with external vendors, clients, and internal departments to ensure an exceptional experience for all parties involved.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to manage budgets, meet and exceed sales targets, maximize revenue opportunities, and expand the customer base.
- Conduct regular analysis of market trends and competitor activities to inform pricing strategies, sales tactics, and event offerings. Prepare and present reports on event sales performance, forecasts, and insights to senior management.
- Oversee the events calendar to ensure effective and timely communication across all departments.
- Train, supervise, and coordinate with internal and external event staff to guarantee the seamless execution of events and functions.
- Work with the Events team to develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients, industry partners, external vendors, and internal stakeholders that support the achievement of sales objectives.
- Partner with the Marketing department to create and implement targeted marketing strategies that generate event leads and enhance revenue opportunities.
- Monitor and manage event-related expenses to ensure profitability while maintaining the quality of the events. Work with the finance department to track and report on financial metrics related to events.
- Serve as project manager for Museum special events, including fundraisers, exhibit openings, sponsor fulfillment events, and partner events as assigned.
- Assist other departments with Museum initiatives and projects as needed, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or related field, or comparable work experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning, preferably in a museum, nonprofit, or cultural institution.
- Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale fundraising events.
- Experience with budgeting and financial management.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable terms and agreements while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
