    Description

    The Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) is seeking an Institutional Giving Manager to support the organization’s development activities by raising support from corporate and institutional funding sources. The position’s core responsibilities focus on funder prospecting, qualification, outreach, creating proposals, grant timeline management, reporting, and other stewardship activities. This is a hybrid role with remote work and two days per week collaborating with our neurodiverse team at our St. Paul, MN office.

    Position Description

    The Institutional Giving Manager reports to the Executive Director and leverages a robust professional network to establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in local corporations, public and private foundations, and other businesses. This position utilizes research, writing, and sales skills to assist the organization in securing institutional donations and grants to support the mission of the Autism Society of Minnesota. This position is part of the Advancement Department and works closely with the executive team, program staff, marketing and communications, and external partners. You will play a critical role in managing the public perception of the organization as Minnesota’s first autism resource.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement a comprehensive corporate and institutional giving strategy to meet fundraising goals.
    • Research and prepare compelling proposals and applications, gathering the necessary information to build a strong case for support and partnership.
    • Ensure adherence to proposal submission deadlines, grant deliverables, and reporting requirements. 
    • Prospect potential opportunities for support from corporate donors and institutional funders and assess their suitability for partnership with the organization. 
    • Maintain an updated institutional giving database on funders, grants, deadlines, contracts, and contacts.
    • Prepare ongoing grant reports for internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Coordinate meetings, presentations, and other engagement opportunities for institutional partners. 
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications team members to create stewardship materials such as impact reports and fact sheets. 
    • Partner with program teams to gather program evaluation data and program updates.
    • Develop and implement detailed project management plans, goals, budgets, and reports. 
    • Analyze campaigns to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Support other departments in the execution of events hosted by the organization.  
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Required Skills

    • At least 3 years of prior experience in development or related functions at nonprofit organizations.
    • Demonstrated success in institutional and corporate fundraising.
    • Ability to establish a strong rapport with various stakeholders, including donors.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make cold calls and negotiate details.
    • Demonstrated organizational skills including attention to detail, project planning, time management, and analysis.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Apple Computers, Salesforce, and web-based applications. 

    Preferred Skills

    • A bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is strongly preferred.
    • Inclusive values and experience working with the neurodivergent community.
    • Experience working in the nonprofit sector.
    • Ability to multitask and adapt to changes.
    • Demonstrated success working independently and collaboratively.
