The regional office maintains American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) nationwide presence, attracts leaders and donors to AJC, enhances AJC’s influence with key local, national, and international decision makers and stakeholders, implements advocacy initiatives at the state/local level, establishes and nurtures community relationships, and serves as AJC’s representatives in the local community.
AJC Washington, D.C. connects the community with AJC’s global advocacy work to stand up for Israel’s right to exist in peace and security; confront antisemitism, no matter the source; and uphold the democratic values that unite Jews and our allies. We do this by activating lay leaders and building relationships with local diplomats, elected officials, and interfaith and intergroup leaders.
The Coordinator is responsible for the vital details and coordination that allow the other professionals in the regional office to fulfill their respective duties. The regional coordinator will function as an initial point of contact and vital part of the AJC regional office team.

Major Functions:
• Assist regional staff with the implementation and execution of all programming, advocacy, leadership development, and all other regional office events and activities.
• Create an atmosphere of service for all AJC stakeholders including lay leaders, donors, visiting experts, community partners and others.
• Coordinate and maintain the regional office administrative systems including maintaining RSVP lists, scheduling and confirming meetings, room assignments, coordinating vendors, event, set-up, and clean up as necessary.
• Maintaining and updating Raiser’s Edge database for regional leaders and donors.
Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• General office duties, including answering the phone, monitoring and responding to regional email account, event support, monitoring and maintaining the office and community calendars, keeping an organized inventory of supplies.
• Coordinating all events and programs including managing contracts and payments for caterers, venues, and other vendors and maintaining an organized and consistent filing system for all information related to events.
• Maintaining electronic and physical records related to regional office projects and programs.
• Organizing and prioritizing large volumes of information, e-mails, incoming and outgoing mail.
• Scheduling and organizing meetings, programs, and events including sending invitations through various media, ordering food, keeping track of respondents, communicating with attendees, and follow up.
• Communications support, including drafting, designing, and layout of general correspondence, flyers, newsletters, invitations, meeting materials, etc. done in consultation with AJC graphics department and other regional staff.
• Drafting communications to a variety of audiences including a weekly board email, monthly regional newsletter, and email communications as needed.
• Reviewing and ordering supplies, both in-house AJC produced and external materials, for events and preparing them for dissemination to community partners, lay leaders, donors, and prospective donors.
• Provide onsite support for regional fundraising events including invitations, emails, RSVP tracking, and follow up.
• Updating regional office website as needed to maintain up to date information related to advocacy initiatives and programming.
• Work with national communications team to support AJC Washington, D.C.’s social media presence including tracking and analyzing data for reporting and strategic planning.
• Coordinating special projects and tasks as assigned by the Regional Director and Assistant Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years related experience.
• Skilled, detail oriented and knowledgeable about best practices for data entry and management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Event planning experience including logistics and marketing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
• Well-developed customer service orientation, professional and time management skills
• Strong attention to prioritization and follow-through.
• Self-starter with a positive, “can-do” attitude and team player who demonstrates ability to work with independent initiative.
• Passion for AJC’s mission and goals and intellectual curiosity and understanding of the work AJC engages in and the organization’s limitations.
• Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards and values.
• Computer skills including MS office suite, bulk email platform such as Hubspot, CRM platforms such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in social media.
• Willingness to attend and work meetings or programs outside of standard working hours including some early mornings and evenings.
• Ability and eagerness to learn new programs, skills, and platforms.
