    The Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center (LaFHAC) seeks a Digital Outreach Coordinator to work on the Education and Outreach Team. The Digital Outreach Coordinator will employ digital tools and strategies to educate people across Louisiana about their rights under the Fair Housing Act.

    LaFHAC is a non-profit organization that seeks to eradicate housing discrimination, an illegal and divisive force that perpetuates poverty and segregation, and limits opportunity. LaFHAC was established in 1995 and is the only full-service fair housing advocacy organization in Louisiana. LaFHAC addresses housing discrimination by 1) educating housing consumers and providers about their rights and responsibilities to proactively prevent violations of the Fair Housing Act; 2) investigating fair housing violations; 3) challenging discriminatory housing practices and policies through litigation; 4) advocating for new policies that promote equitable housing; and 5) counseling homeowners facing foreclosure.

    Education Requirements

    Applicants must have a B.A. and/or commensurate experience in relevant fields such as digital communications, community outreach, housing, civil rights and/or racial justice. 

    Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate has all or most of the following qualifications:

    • Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in using social media platforms, digital content development and other web based tools. 
    • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. 
    • Creative and passionate about using visuals and graphics to engage the community about social justice issues.
    • Ability to collaborate respectfully and effectively with individuals from a variety of racial/ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner. 
    • Knowledge of New Orleans and other Louisiana communities. 
    • Competence with a variety of basic office programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel and competency in use of basic office technology. 
    • Demonstrated commitment to fair housing and/or civil rights.
    • Fluency in Spanish or Vietnamese is preferred. 

    Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of the Digital Media and Outreach Coordinator is to Conduct statewide and targeted outreach – through in person outreach, web-based platforms and online tools – to increase knowledge of fair housing laws and LaFHAC’s work throughout Louisiana.

    • Implement and regularly evaluate annual outreach plans and strategies to effectively reach key constituencies online and in person. 
    • Conduct outreach across the state using a variety of strategies with an emphasis on digital outreach 
    • Assist with planning and implementation of LaFHAC educational events
    • Provide graphic design for outreach materials, development materials and social media. 
    • Manage the layout and preparation of the monthly newsletter
    • Post to organizational social media accounts across platforms on a regular basis. 
    • Answer phones to conduct intakes and referrals of housing questions and complaints approximately one day per week.
    • Collaborate with Education and Outreach team members on quarterly and annual grant reports. 
    • Comply with all policies of LaFHAC

    Salary and Benefits 

    The salary range is $40,000-$45,000 based on experience. Benefits include:

    Please Note: Office hours are M-F, 9am-5pm but this position requires frequent evening/weekend hours. LaFHAC’s staff continues to work on a hybrid schedule. Candidates are required to work in the office 2 days per week.
