    Description

    The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in October 2022, the Orchestra has a renewed commitment to building on a 180-year-old legacy of excellence by serving as a platform for today’s creators and connecting with our communities. In the 2023–24 season the NY Phil marks Jaap van Zweden’s farewell season as Music Director, and features 14 World, US, and New York Premieres, a celebration of the centennial of our famous Young People’s Concerts, and more. In February 2023 the New York Philharmonic announced the appointment of Gustavo Dudamel as the Orchestra’s next maestro, to begin as Music and Artistic Director in 2026–27, after serving as Music Director Designate in 2025–26.

    The New York Philharmonic seeks a Program Coordinator, Education to provide support for Philharmonic Schools, Very Young Composers™, and Very Young People’s Concerts®. The position will handle department administration and finances and support special projects.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Coordinates New York Philharmonic musician coaching’s for school orchestras, bands and other ensemble programs.
    • Manages sales and front-of-house for Young People’s Concerts® for schools and other related activities. Process all financial transactions of the department, including invoicing, coding expense and income, and routing paperwork.
    • Work with Manager, Teaching and Learning and Director, Very Young Composers and Community Programs to support in-school and on-site activities and teaching artist faculty members.
    • Coordinate engagement of Philharmonic musicians for family and community-based activities.
    • Oversee front-of-house pre-concert events in coordination with the Philharmonic’s Volunteer Corp.
    • Coordinate activities for Young People’s Concerts® for schools, including invoicing, school registration, and management of front-of-house staff.
    • Manage attendance for Open Rehearsals for Schools and other related activities for students and pre-professional musicians.
    • Assist in hiring and managing workflow for intern(s).
    • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
    • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    A minimum of 2 years of administrative experience, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience with billing and/or payables. Musical background is a strong plus.
