    Description

    Reporting directly to the Canon for Lay & Ordained Vocations, this position serves as a resource to lay ministries across the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT) by providing spiritual and formational practices for a variety of congregational and ministry contexts and needs, as well as collaboration around practices of formation, with an emphasis on lifetime growth in discipleship.

    Principal duties and responsibilities include providing support and training to ministry leaders across the Diocese; researching and understanding current Christian formation practices and programs and make recommendations to the Canon as to which practices and programs may be helpful to incorporate into diocesan and parish formation programming; and regularly communicating about formation resources with ministry leaders across ECCT as appropriate.

    Education and experience sought:

    • Must be Episcopalian or familiar with the tenets of the Episcopal Church
    • At least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent; advanced degree a plus
    • At least (5) years of experience in teaching elements of Christian faith practices to many ages and life stages
    • Understanding of a variety of ministry and congregational contexts, especially across the landscape of ECCT, which encompasses congregations of a variety of sizes, locations, and gifts, including congregations without clergy leadership, congregations with and without robust lay leadership, etc.
    • Spiritual maturity, including a personal commitment to practicing the faith. The candidate should feel comfortable openly talking about being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

This position is open to individuals with significant experience as a lay leader with an Episcopal parish or organization. While a layperson is preferred for this position, clergy with experience in lay leadership may also apply.
