    Description

    The Executive Director (ED) of the Village Network of Petaluma (VNP) inspires and leads staff and teams of volunteers to support, engage, and encourage our members to live vibrant independent lives through the provision of educational and social programming and a small core of supportive services. The ED provides leadership, strategic direction, and management to sustain and grow its’ offerings, and promotes the organization in the community. The ED works with the Member Relations & Volunteer Manager to oversee daily operations and works closely with the Board, staff, members, volunteers and broader community to ensure programs and services are consistent with our member-centered mission, values, culture, and emerging Strategic Plan. https://www.villagenetworkofpetaluma.org/

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES

    Operations Management

    Board ofDirectors

    • Report to the Board. Provide semiannual ED Benchmark Reports and make recommendations as appropriate on Village operations, goals, and timelines. Support all activities associated with the Board and teams.
    •  Collaborate with the Board on Strategic Plan evolution and champion its’ implementation.

    Staff

    •  Lead staff and volunteers in all operational aspects of the organization.
    •  Conduct periodic performance reviews of staff and provide guidance as needed.
    •  Manage all aspects of human resources including policies and legal, contractual and safety
    • requirements.

     Administrative

    • With the Finance Team, oversee development of the annual budget and continuously monitor performance.
    • Ensure effective computer management, communications systems and reporting.

    Fund Development

    •  Secure revenue to finance annual operations through multi-pronged fundraising including specialized campaigns in accordance with initiatives developed with the Board and Fund Development Team to achieve Strategic Plan objectives.
    • Research and pursue grant opportunities, and develop new campaigns as appropriate to support stability and innovation.

    Member Management and Community Outreach

    • Oversee the Member Relations/Volunteer Manager to assure strong member experience. Engage directly with members as appropriate.
    • PromotetheVillageinthecommunityandgrowmemberandvolunteerenrollmentinalignmentwith the Strategic Plan.
    • Serve as the Village spokes person in local media, public forums, other nonprofits, and the community.
    •  Manage the development of marketing and out reach materials including social media and the monthly member/community newsletter.
    • Develop partnerships with community organizations and local businesses to leverage the impact and coordination of Village offerings. Represent VNP in mission-consistent, community-wide Age-Friendly efforts.

    Program Development

    • Oversee and support the Program Team to offer public programs to educate and support older adults and to recruit new members and volunteers. Collaborate with other organizations to sponsor and co-sponsor activities as appropriate.
    • Evaluate the operations and impact of all Village programs periodically.

    •  Ability to lead Fund Development Team and effectively raise funds to meet agency goals.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • 5+ years of management/operational experience with non-profit organization(s) and staff
    • Demonstrated management experience with volunteers
    • Strong oral/written communication skills -- interacts with respect, patience, and empathy
    • Strong technology skills such as social media, content creation, digital campaigns, project planning
    • Excellent public speaker able to engage with diverse audiences
    • Experience in both fundraising and budget management

    HIGHLY DESIRABLE

    • Experience in the field of aging and knowledge of needed supports and available resources
    • Knowledge of the communities and local organizations in Petaluma and Penngrove
    •  Experience developing symbiotic relationships among groups in the NorCal region
    • Change management experience in rapidly developing growth environments
    • Adaptability/flexibility to pivot effectively in response to unexpected changes
    • Bachelor’s degree
    •  Bilingual English/Spanish skills
