Son of a Saint is seeking a full-time Mentor & Alumni Engagement Specialist to join our team. This position will assist the Community Engagement Department with recruiting, onboarding, and retaining mentors and volunteers. This position will be responsible for continued engagement with mentors and volunteers and heavily assist with mentor-mentee pairings. This position will also develop an alumni program to engage and recruit mentee graduates of Son of a Saint. The alumni program will include communicating with Son of a Saint alumni, supporting community events, and developing alumni into mentors. The ideal candidate is an extrovert who is well organized, self-motivated, self-starter, enthusiastic, and community-driven. The Mentor & Alumni Engagement Specialist will report to the Volunteer Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for vetting potential mentors and continued engagement with mentors.
- Be able to provide mentor engagement details to assist and collaborate with establishing and finalizing mentee-mentor pairings.
- Tracks mentor engagement metrics via Golden, our digital registration system.
- Assist with the implementation of successful efforts for recruitment, onboarding, and retention of mentors and volunteers.
- Assist in the organization of special events, such as Oak Street Po-Boy Fest, Hogs for the Cause, donor/volunteer appreciation events, recruitment activities, and other service initiatives.
- Assist with developing and implementing programs, projects, and events to engage alumni, and cultivate rapport to fulfill department goals.
- Assist Volunteer Manager and Mentor Ambassador Council (MAC) in conducting interviews with all mentor candidates.
- Assist with collecting data regarding mentor candidates and steps that they have completed or need to complete to be approved as a Mentor.
- Works collaboratively with the Director of Community Engagement, Volunteer Manager, and the Programming Team to build rapport with current high school senior mentees.
- Connect with Alumni Mentees monthly on volunteerism, general engagement, etc.
- Coordinates events for mentee alumni to include volunteering with Son of a Saint events and activities coordinated by other nonprofits in the greater New Orleans area.
- Assist with developing alumni into mentors.
- Manages alumni support requests.
- Represents Son of a Saint as needed with affiliated entities at meetings, functions, projects, and activities.
- Communicates both orally and in writing in a professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Nonprofit experience is a plus.
- 2 years or more of experience working in volunteer/people management, alumni relations, communications, youth programming, or a related field.
- Excellent proficiency in spreadsheets required.
- Proficient in Google Workspace.
- Attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience working with youth.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Son of a Saint staff, mentors, mentee guardians, and various members and groups from the community.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and can work independently with minimal supervision.
